30 December 2009 - 22:51Confirmation, Christmas Clean-up, Bulletins, & Jan. 1st
Greetings to all,
1. We have 15 young people preparing for the Sacrament of Confirmation
which will be celebrated on Sunday, January 31, at the 10:30 am Mass
with Bishop Joseph Tyson. Look for and take a prayer card to pray for
one of the Confirmandi. They will be going on a pilgrimage the weekend
of January 16-18 to the Shrine of the Sorrowful Mother (The Grotto) near
Portland. They want to take prayer requests with them to bring to the
shrine of St. Peregrine (patron saint of cancer patients). You may
write your prayer request on the cards and the young people will take
them with them on the pilgrimage.
2. We need “cleaner uppers” to help take the Christmas decorations
down. Sign up to help after the second Mass on January 10th.
3. The company that prints our bulletins can no longer provide that
service for free. We have looked at the cost of paying them to do it
versus the cost of printing the bulletin on site. In order to cover our
costs we would sell advertising space on the back of the bulletin at the
rate of $30 per quarter. We would have room for 10 business card size
advertisements. Is there interest? Reply to this email to let us know.
4. January first: Holy Day of Obligation — Feast of Mary the Mother of
God: Mass here at Holy Innocents at 9 am.
Blessings to all,
Gail

21 December 2009 - 22:51Stewardship Thank You
Thank you to all who have turned in a financial Stewardship Commitment
Cards for 2010. We have heard from 153 households so far. Pledges
total $222,208 so far (goal = $375,000)
If you have not turned in your commitment card, please do so right
away. We want to finish this up before the turn of the year.
If I do not hear from you, I will have to send a follow-up letter.
Please save us time, paper and postage: you can reply to this email if
you wish for your convenience (even if you cannot make a financial
commitment this year).
A special word of thank you to all who so generously supported our
Christmas outreach ministry. We saw a lot of very happy faces leaving
the church today. Many, many generous donors and many, many generous
volunteers have made it all possible. Thank you all so much!
Gail

getting a spot next year), local homeless support groups and some
internationally oriented groups.
2. On Sunday: Sign up to help decorate the church. We will decorate
for Christmas after the second Mass on Sunday, December 20. We will
need help setting up the Christmas trees, nativity, and other Christmas
decorations.
3. On Sunday: Sign up to help with the Christmas outreach. We will be
giving out gift cards and certificates on Monday, December 21, from 10
am to 5 pm.
4. Thank you to those who have already turned in their Stewardship
Commitment Cards for 2010. We want to finish up the Stewardship drive
as soon as possible. This is about your commitment for the next year to
support the operations of Holy Innocents to enable us to continue the
work and mission of Holy Innocents. Please turn in your cards as soon
as possible. If it is easier for you, you can simply reply to this
email to tell us what your commitment will be or if you are unable to
make a financial commitment this year. In any case, please continue to

4 December 2009 - 21:38Nativity and Giving Tree Tags
Greetings to all.
1. This Sunday plan to take some time before or after Mass to enjoy
some of Father Dave’s nativity collection. He has brought some over to
us to display in the back of the church for a couple of weeks.
2. Plan to pick up a Giving Tree tag or two before or after Mass.
Since we put the tags up on the trees we have had 60 more families sign
up (we now have a total of 163 families!). So we really need your
generous help. Invite your friends and neighbors if they are not
already doing some Christmas outreach to buy an extra Target or Fred
Meyer Card, or a gas card perhaps for one of our local families in
need. The cards are easy to buy (you can get them in the grocery
stores). We appreciate any help we can get.
Thanks for your continuing prayers and support.
