26 January 2010 - 15:45Shoe Drive for Haiti and Confirmation this Sunday with Bishop Tyson

Greetings to all,
1.  Okay, I know I put the wrong date on the bulletin email (it IS
January, not August).  Who knows where that came from?  Just let me know
when it keeps happening more often, and I’ll make sure my retirement
plan is up to date.  Oh, maybe it is too late by that time!  Anyway…..

2.  Garden help:  does anyone have a gas hedge trimmer?  We have some
long-haired grasses that need a hair cut.  If you have such a tool and
are able to give some time to do the trimming, I’ll do the cleanup.  Or
if you have such a tool, but not the time, maybe someone can offer to do
the job with the loan of a trimmer.  Let me know.

3.  Shoe Drive for Haiti:  Eastside Catholic is sponsoring a shoe drive
in memory of Molly Hightower.  We have baskets at church for your
donations.  New or “gently used” shoes (please tie or bind the pairs
together).  We’ll send them over to ESC for you.

4.  Pantry donation assignment:  canned fruit.

5.  Confirmation this Sunday at the 10:30 am Mass with Bishop Tyson.

6.  If you haven’t responded yet to our Stewardship (operations budget)
Commitment, it is not too late.  Thank you to all who are able to
continue their support of the work and mission of Holy Innocents!

Pastoral Associate

14 January 2010 - 12:13Help for Haiti- Catholic Relief Services

Greetings,

The catastrophic earthquake in Haiti is heartbreaking.  We will have
envelopes in the pews this Sunday if you would like to contribute to the
emergency relief effort.  Here is a message from our Mission Office:

“CRS (Catholic Relief Services) has permanent offices and ongoing
projects in Haiti, which is the poorest country in the Western
Hemisphere. Eighty percent of Haitians are Catholic. CRS is quickly
mobilizing its pre-positioned emergency relief supplies including:
kitchen kits, hygiene kits, mosquito nets, bedding, water containers and
other lifesaving assistance. CRS has made an initial commitment of $5
million to help with immediate needs.  More information and the latest
updates can be found on the CRS website (http://www.crs.org/). For local
updates, please visit the Missions Office website
(http://www.seattlearch.org/Missions/).”

You can also contribute on-line through the CRS website.  CRS is one of
the best and most efficient ways to help in times of disaster.

For our Brothers and Sisters in Haiti Affected by the Earthquake
Lord hear our prayer.
For the Haitian people, that help comes to them quickly and comfort
comes to those who hurt,
Lord hear our prayer.
The the lost or buried, that they are found and reunited with their
loved ones,
Lord hear our prayer.
For the relief workers, that they have the tools they need, the courage
and the strength to respond fully,
Lord hear our prayer.
For the families in Haiti and in the United States who are waiting to
hear from loved ones, that good news comes to them,
Lord hear our prayer.
For those who have perished, may their souls rest with you, oh, Lord,
where they will find eternal love,
Amen

8 January 2010 - 17:11Advertising in bulletins, Cereal, and UN-decorating Church

Greetings,

1.  We are publishing the bulletin on site after this Sunday and I am
putting together the advertising page.  We are selling ads for $10 a
month to help cover our costs.  We already have 11 ad spaces spoken for
and we have room for 18.  Let me know if your want to be on the back of
the bulletin.  We will also look at sending the bulletin to parishioners
via email (it is already on the web site).  That way you get to see some
of it in color!

2.  Pantry item:  cereal

3.  UN-decorating the Church after the 10:30 am Mass this Sunday:  help
put the Christmas decorations away!
