Dear friends in Christ,

At Pentecost we celebrate not only the outpouring of the Holy Spirit on the 50th day after Easter but more than that we recall the mission and impetus given by the Holy Spirit to renew the face of the earth. The gifts of the Spirit which have been poured out upon us are given to us that we might all tell of the “mighty acts of God.” It is with good reason that Pentecost is often considered the “Birthday of the Church,” and one of the top three most important feasts we celebrate.

On the fiftieth day, the Holy Spirit came upon them as a strong driving wind and tongues of fire came to rest on them, and the Holy Spirit shook the house. We may not have received the Holy Spirit that dramatically but at our Baptism and Confirmation, the Holy Spirit filled us with his gifts, his charisms for the good of the Church. WE NEED YOUR GIFTS! The Church, the People of God need your gifts!

So I want to invite us all in the coming weeks to recommit ourselves to Mass, personal prayer (especially listing to God in our hearts), and to parish service.

If you are not involved in a ministry, would you prayerfully consider, how the Holy Spirit is calling you to serve in the Church. There is something for everyone. And if you are already serving, would you recommit or consider a new ministry?

Come let us serve the Lord. Let us build up the Church. Let us build up our Parish. Let us tell the Good News!

Come Holy Spirit! Renew the Face of the Earth! Enkindle in your servants the Fire of your Love.

May we all be blessed and renewed by the Holy Spirit!
