Littlest Disciples
3 years old through 1st grade
Our Early Childhood faith formation program for our younger parishioners is called “Littlest Disciples” I think it points to their true nature in our community and helps us to all see our role as sharing our faith and role models of discipleship. Littlest Disciples will include story telling, crafts, games, puppets and music.
Getting involved is easy! Our format provides children with the opportunity to participate in learning centers focused on the bible story theme. The themes are based on bible stories like Abraham and Sarah, the Nativity story, Jesus miracles, Easter story, some of the Parables, Easter and the road to Emmaus.
Our program year for 2011 – 2012 begins October and ends in May. Register is now available for Fall of 2011

Our early childhood program “Littlest Disciples” has a format that engages children in lots of fun hands on creative ways! Children will be move through learning centers during the hour that will include Bible storytelling, crafts and an activity.
How does this all work? How can you be part of the fun?
The program works best when lots of folks participate in ways they most enjoy, and it is always more fun to be part of a team!
Before Littlest Disciples begins, the children are assigned to a small group for the year of approximately 6 children. This gives the children a chance to get to know other children and it makes it a manageable size of young people for an adult to lead through the learning centers.
As the session begins, all the children will gather in the together for a brief opening and introduction to the day’s Bible story. Then the small groups each follow a pattern for participating in one of the learning centers. All the groups will move through the centers simultaneously in 15 minute periods.
Some children will be hearing the bible story, while others will either be working on their craft project or busy in the activity center playing a game that also helps the children learn the bible story.
Finally, the children all come together again for the final 10 minutes or so that is left to sing and to watch a brief puppet show that also reinforces the day’s bible story theme.
Of course, all of this means that we have a lot more opportunities to be involved and

Our children will need people who would be willing to be….
SET UP CREWS
Set up for about 10 minutes or so before to get the space ready.
GREETERS
Greet and welcome families and to sign children in.
SHEPHERD
Shepherd a small group of children through the learning centers
LEARNING CENTER LEADER OR ASSISTANT
Learning Center leaders/assistants- Bible Story, craft, activity/games
PUPPETEER
our special puppeteer will be provided a short scrip and an amazing puppet
SONG LEADER
The Song leader leads simple children’s bible songs (music resources and tape player provided)
CLEAN UP CREW MEMBER
A quick pickup at the end of the session.
AT HOME HELPER
AT HOME HELPER: Craft project preparation you can do at home…I supply the idea, if needed?
GETTING INVOLVED IS EASY!!
The best part of all of this is that you can sign up to help with a single piece of the day and not have to prepare and teach a full lesson and supervise a large group of children…it’s little bites…that are easier to swallow….as they say. The more of us who share in the adventure, the more flexible you can be with your time and schedule. Finally-all the lesson prep is already done for you. Helping with phone calls or mailings-other office support you can do from home.
