21 November 2009 - 22:04Living Stones Cards and Adult Confirmation
Greetings to All,
1. Thank you to all who have returned their Living Stones cards. We
want as many names as possible on the “stones” in the church. Even if
you are unable to pledge an amount at this time, please return a card so
we can put your name up as participating! You can go to the web site,
holyinn.org, and download a pledge to fill in.
2. Adult Confirmation — if you are over the age of 18 and have not
received the Sacrament of Confirmation, sign up after Mass or call the
office to register for our Adult Confirmation Program. The first
session is Monday, Nov 23, at 7 pm. There are six sessions and we will
celebrate the Sacrament of Confirmation on January 31 at the 10:30 am
Mass.
Confirmation strengthens you to live out your Christian life. It is
required for Godparents, and in our Archdiocese, strongly recommended
for those who wish to marry in the Church.

6 November 2009 - 13:04Living Stones Commitment Sunday
Greetings to the Holy Innocents Ones!
This Sunday, November 8, is Living Stones Commitment Sunday. Everyone should have received the Living Stones brochure and commitment card either through attending a meeting or in the mail.
If possible, we ask that you bring your commitment card to Mass this Sunday if you have not already turned one in.
We are excited that we have reached nearly 55% of our goal of $1,500,000 (5-year-pledges). The remaining 45% is up to us: if everyone participates as they are able, we can make our goal and even go over!
Every pledge counts. As you turn in your card, your name goes on one of the “stones” in the church. You are one of those stones a Living Stone. Your participation is what will build up those walls and ensure Holy Innocents growth and vitality.

28 October 2009 - 19:59 Living Stones & Daylight Savings Time change
This Sunday, November 1, we will have Living Stones Presentations after each Mass.
If you have not attended one of these, please do plan to come this Sunday.
There is lots of interesting information, a great DVD featuring our Holy Innocents Community, and a chance to learn more about our parish.
We will have childcare available. The presentations are no more than an hour long.
Do come!

20 October 2009 - 22:23REALLY need some help
Please consider being a volunteer for /The Living Stones Project./ This is a short-term responsibility that packs a long-term punch for our parish! We need volunteers to call fellow parishioners to invite them to one of the final presentations. We also need help placing reminder calls for people to return their pledge cards. (You’ll NEVER have to call anyone to ask for contributions!)
We have over 300 calls to make. The calls are brief, but important. By volunteering to make 10-20 calls (which takes less than one hour), you’ll dramatically affect the success of our Project. Not only that, but you’ll help us update our Parish Database. You’ll be providing /two/ important services with this one act of volunteerism!
There’s a training session tonight in the Blue Room from 7-7:30 PM.
Please come. If you can’t make it but still want to help, please reply to this email so we can make other arrangements.
THANK YOU!!!

13 October 2009 - 16:13Living Stones volunteers needed
If you have signed up to be a volunteer or are willing to do some calling (just encouraging attendance at the presentations) for our Living Stones Project, plan to come to a meeting tonight, Oct 13, at 7 pm, downstairs. Please let us know if you can help. The more helpers, the less anyone has to do. If you can help but can’t come tonight , just let us know and we’ll get the information to you!
Thanks,
Gail

9 October 2009 - 16:11The good, bad, ugly, and beautiful
Greetings to the parish!
Let me explain the subject line:
The Good — Stewardship (operations) giving is on track and we are paying bills on time
The Bad — Building Fund giving is down and with less subsidy from the Archdiocese we are not able to pay the full amount due. In September, we paid $5,000 on our bill of $18,2000.
The Ugly — That means the interest due gets rolled back into the loan and we will be paying interest on interest.
and the Beautiful — in hearing about this situation, one of the parish households has given $1,000 (above and beyond their regular giving to Stewardship and the Building Fund) to help fill the hole. With the understanding that some parishioners are struggling with unemployment and underemployment and are unable to give, I ask, if you are able, to consider giving more at this time to help.
Larry and I are going to do so.
This situation makes it all the more important for EVERYONE to participate as they are able in our Living Stones Project which is asking your commitment to the Building Fund starting in January 2010.
Holy Innocents is our home, our community, and with your generosity we will continue to flourish and grow.
Thank you for your continuing support.

Pastoral Associate

9 October 2009 - 15:07More Living Stones Info
Some parishioners received letters with an error about when the presentations will be for the Living Stones Project.
The next presentations will be

You are encouraged to attend one of the presentations if you have not already been to one. Each presentation is about an hour long.
Remember: Holy Innocents is a Parishioner Participation Project (say that three time fast!).
Please plan to attend and participate.

2 October 2009 - 15:05Living Stones Presentations
Greetings to all!
1. If you got a letter inviting you to one of the two presentations coming up, please let us know which one you would be attending. The next two presentations will be Wednesday, Oct 7, at 7 pm Sunday, Oct 11, at 11:45. Our Living Stones Project is asking for you financial support for our building loan for the next five years.
We are having a number of presentations to give parishioners information about the church and our situations.
Everyone will be invited to attend one of the presentations. There are two coming up: Wednesday, Oct 7, at 7 pm and Sunday, Oct 11, at 11:45 am.
If you received an invitation to one of the presentations, we would appreciate hearing which one you would be attending.
You may attend any one of the presentations, and you will receive an invitation if you haven’t already. But we would like to know for planning purposes.
2. The Archdiocese is planning a television ad campaign in the spring to reach out to inactive Catholics. They are asking for financial support for this (as, of course, it is expensive). You can see what these ads will be like after Mass in the narthex. If you wish to support this, we will have envelopes in the bulletin. Holy Innocents community has been asked to give $2000 to the cost of these Archdiocesan ads. Consider if you can help.
3. Pantry item of the week: canned tomato products: stewed tomatoes, tomato sauce, diced tomatoes, etc.
Thanks for your continuing support!

25 September 2009 - 14:19Raffle Quilt, Bake Sale, and Volunteers for Living Stones Project
Greetings to the Holy Innocents family.
1. This Saturday there is going to be a quilt show in town and we will have our 2009 Raffle quilt on display. Diane Baker (The Quilters
Garden) suggested that if someone wanted to set up a table to sell Late Nite Catechism tickets (at Holy Innocents on Oct 24) we could set up a table outside her shop on Main Street and sell tickets. I know this is Very Short Notice, but I thought I would ask. We have a card table, a poster, and a cash box. Let me know.
2. On Sunday the Ladies Auxiliary is having a bake sale after both masses. Plan to buy something special to take home to enjoy.
3. We need volunteers to help with our Living Stones Project to raise money for the Building Fund. Specifically, people who can call other parishioners to simply encourage them to come to one of the presentation. If you are available, let me know. There is a training meeting on Tuesday evening, but we can get the information to you another way if you can’t make that meeting.
Thanks!
